EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY POLICY
The Management Committee of Reeth Memorial Hall recognises that everyone has a contribution to make to society and a right to equal opportunity. The Committee is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among all users of the hall, and eliminating unlawful discrimination.
Principles
No member, volunteer, organisation or individual will be discriminated against on the grounds of the protected characteristics set out in the Equality Act 2010: disability, race and ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, religion and belief, age, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership or pregnancy and maternity.
Procedures
We aim to promote equality and diversity and eliminate discrimination and harassment by:
1. Opposing all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination and to be proactive in preventing sexual harrasment.
2. Ensuring all volunteers, hirers, employees, and visitors are treated fairly, equally and with respect.
3. Ensuring committee membership appointment will be available to all.
4. Ensuring all hall users have a legal and moral obligation to adhere to the hall’s stated principles.
5. Any incident of discrimination or harassment must be reported to a member of the Management Committee at the earliest opportunity.
6. The Chair of the Management Committee will undertake an investigation, report to the Committee, and any necessary action will be agreed and undertaken.
