UKULELE DAY Saturday 28th March - Organised by ‘Yoredale Ukulele Strummers’
Keith Stephen's Hot Club Trio with Caroline Irwin
The ukulele has gained popularity in recent year not only with adults but especially in schools where it is regarded as cost effective and a relatively easy instrument to play and to introduce children to music generally. The Yoredale Ukulele Strummers (local Richmondshire players ) are organising an all-day event in March to show what a versatile little instrument the ukulele can be!
9.30am to 12.30pm - Workshops These will consist of a childrens’ Ukulele Workshop (aged 7+ and accompanied by an adult) to build and play their own ‘Buttertub Ukulele’. All materials, tuition and refreshments included. The cost is £5 and places are limited. Contact Graham White 01748-884821, email: email@example.com to book a place.
In addition, throughout the morning there will be a drop-in session for anyone to ‘Come and Try a Ukulele’. No musical knowledge is required and we will have a variety of ukuleles available for you to see and try. It’s FREE and refreshments will be available.
2pm to 5pm - Ukulele Concert Performances by the ‘Yoredale Ukulele Strummers’ and guest musicians including a set by children from Arkengarthdale and Reeth schools.

8pm to 11pm - Keith Stephen’s Hot Club Trio with Caroline Irwin. The occasional ukulele sound and lots of other good music from some of the north east’s most respected international musicians with many recordings to their name. They play a wide variety of music based initially on the style of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France, but also encompassing a large repertoire of jazz standards, several gypsy waltzes and some more modern 1950s pop tunes.
