Fireworks & Songs of Praise

The Family Fireworks Fund

This group is a sub-committee of the main Hall Management Committee and was originally formed to organise events during the Millennium celebrations which began with a midnight fireworks display on 31st December 1999. Afterwards the group were asked to take over the organisation of the annual Bonfire Night fireworks display and to continue the popular open air Songs of Praise on the green on the last Sunday in August. The New Year fireworks proved to be so popular that these were also continued but transferred to the evening of New Years Day. Donations, collections and sponsorship support the cost of the firework displays which bring many visitors into the village and funds raised after expenses are put back into good causes in the community.

Bonfire Night

The village bonfire and fireworks display is held on the village green on 5th November.
The bonfire is lit at 6.30pm. The fireworks display begins at 7pm and a barbecue is available throughout the evening.
Admission is free and a (cash only) bucket collection is taken to support future village events.

New Year Fireworks Display

The New Year fireworks commence at 7pm on January 1st, on the green, usually with a barbecue run by a local voluntary group. A great family friendly way to celebrate the New Year. Admission is free and a (cash only) bucket collection is taken to support future village events.

Songs of Praise

Since the Millennium celebrations the Fireworks Committee have continued to organise an annual non-denominational Songs of Praise on the village green at 3pm on the Sunday before August Bank Holiday Monday.  Music is by Reeth Brass Band and the hymns are introduced by representatives from three local churches.  If the weather is bad the event is moved into the Memorial Hall.
